What happens when you combine focus, patience, fine motor skills and your own artistic vision? Maybe a mug or a little plate that means as much to you as a medal or a trophy. If you fancy trying it out, drop by the Art Reformatory at Design Field. We've put together an intensive ceramics course for adults. We start in February.
Touch the clay. An intensive ceramics course
What happens when you combine focus, patience, fine motor skills and your own creative eye? Perhaps a mug or a little plate, one that means just as much as a medal or a trophy. If you'd like to give it a try, drop by the Art Reformatory at Design Field. We've put together an intensive ceramics course for adults. We start in February.
Eight lessons over two months await you, in which you'll immerse yourself in the world of clay within an intimate group of no more than eight people. You'll try your hand at hand-building, throwing on the potter's wheel, and decorating and painting with engobes, which give your pieces their own distinctive character. The course also covers glazing the finished pieces. During the course you'll learn:
- the basics of ceramic modelling
- the basics of working on the potter's wheel
- decorating and engobe-painting techniques
Step by step, you'll create a hand-modelled plate and a mug thrown on the wheel. If clay captures your imagination, you can go on to make further pieces – a bowl, a vase, or whatever else takes your fancy. The course is also suitable for complete beginners. It's for anyone who wants to create without pressure, at their own pace, and experience the joy of authentic work with the material.
