Design enters everyday life
Here, design isn't just the subject of exhibitions. It runs through the whole space, where things are genuinely designed, made, worked on and enjoyed in free time. Exhibitions, products, the café, activities for children or the cultural programme aren't separate worlds here. Together, they show how design can become part of everyday life.
From brownfield to open field
Physically, it's a former industrial brownfield that's gradually turning into an open site where production remains a natural presence, alongside exhibitions, culture, education and gatherings. Pole designu is run by Egoé, whose experience of the journey from first idea to serially manufactured product shapes the character of the place and its programme.
An open field, not an institution
Pole designu is both a physical site and a space for ideas. Design, production, culture and education all come together here.
We're not an institution in the traditional sense — we work as an open field for meeting and sharing. The site is a low-threshold place with no fences. You can come any time, for any reason: for a coffee, for an exhibition, for a concert, for a workshop, or just because.
Sow first, harvest later
A field symbolises process, time, work and care. First you plough, then you sow — and only then do you harvest.
Here, too, things take shape gradually, in cycles, under the hands of their makers. We don't rush. We give ideas time to ripen.
Design isn't decoration
Design isn't a style or decoration to us. It's the way things, environments and services come into being — a process of thinking and decision-making.
We're interested in design that works in the real world: products, buildings and solutions that people can actually live and work with.
We offer space, not ready-made answers
We've prepared the setting, but we don't dictate how you experience it. We offer context and space — and leave it up to you what you take from it.
We're proud without being showy, humble without being servile. And we're still searching. We're not perfect, but we're trying to get close.
