For the music programme, we've backed musicians with a distinctive sound and lyrics that actually say something. We picked out strong names, each with their own audience and their own world. And we're bringing them all together, to one place. We love watching what comes of it – the variety, the dialogues, the unexpected connections.
A distinctive voice is the common thread running through, for instance, Slovak hip-hop group Modré hory or the singer-songwriter projects Alois Göbel and Člověk krve. Nor do the legendary outfit Dunaj with Jana Vébrová, home-grown club-scene star Dukla, or Slovak indie-pop legend Puding pani Elvisovej – returning to the stage after nine years – fit any kind of mould.
Other standout names on the bill include David Žbirka's Sunnbrella. The programme is given an extra edge by the sixteen-piece big band Cotatcha Orchestra, whose bandleader Jiří Kotača picked up his second Anděl award this year, as well as the Czech Republic's first virtual pop star, Nivva. Also not to be missed is The Exhumators – Ivan Acher's original songs performed by Lenka Dusilová, Tereza Marečková and Vanda Šípová.
