One of the guests at WiFič VEN! will be Michael Meyer, Director Product & Strategy at TEAMS Design studio. He'll talk about how products for major global brands come to life, and what role design plays in their development. The studio's work will also be represented by two Bosch products on show at Žně designu – a cordless lawnmower and a laser distance measurer.
The collaboration between TEAMS Design and Bosch goes back to the 1950s. The studio helped develop the first system of electric drills with plastic housings, and went on to help shape the character of products that combine technical solutions, ergonomics and a consistent brand look. Today TEAMS operates across five studios in Europe, the United States and China, and alongside industrial design also works in digital and strategic design.
The studio's family tree has a strong Czech thread running through it. Its founder Hans Erich Slany was born in 1926 in Czechoslovakia, in what is now Loučná pod Klínovcem. In 1956 he founded his own studio, Slany Design, which later became TEAMS Design. He was among the pioneers of using plastic housings for power tools, spent more than twenty years as a professor of industrial design, and also helped found the Association of German Industrial Designers.
